Sorry we haven’t checked in for so long…..
Nora is doing well. Her neck injury has presented some problems and minor setbacks, but Nora has powered through it all. Since her ruptured disc won’t heal, and she’s likely to need painkillers for the rest of her life – we decided to start looking at options to take stress of her neck. In addition to a new round of acupuncture, this time also with laser treatments starting next week – we decided to get Nora some wheels. Since she is so mobile on 3, we never considered it before – but it would take a lot of stress off her neck if she could accept using it as a means to get to and from the park. Once in the park, she can come out of it and run around like she loves to do. Running is a lot easier on her neck than walking. I’m sure you’re all familiar with the headbob tripawds develop to compensate for a missing forelimb. We’re working with the rehab department at AMC to properly fit the cart and get her comfortable with using it.
She is now officially ‘ a bitch on wheels’, as we affectionately call her. She may have to get a side cart for her kitty brothers π
Below is a link of one of Nora’s first training sessions with the new wheels.

I don’t know how I missed your story before! Wow, the things Nora has been through! It’s fantastic you’re doing so much for her and it’s amazing from what a destiny you saved her from.
I totally expect pictures of the ‘bitch oon wheels’!’ π π
PS Vibeke? are you Danish originally?
all the best

Thank you, Tina and Manni β€ I hope you were able to watch the video link.
Good catch on my name π Not Danish, but close enough – I’m Norwegian
Hahaha! Well she’s our favorite bitch on wheels, that’s for sure!
I’m so glad you’re working with AMC on the wheels. Yes, wheels are GREAT when a Tripawd has an issue like Nora, and it’s so important to work with therapists to get those wheels sized perfectly. Anything less does more harm than good. YAY for you being such great advocates for her. With your help she will go on to live a long, healthy and happy life.
P.S. I’d love to hear more about how AMC is working with you on the wheels. A future blog post just about this topic would be great!
Hugs & kisses to sweet Nora. Rock & Roll girlfriend! xoxo
We will certainly do more posts about this. It takes a lot of fine tuning, and a slow introduction to the wheels (5-10 minutes, 2-3 times a day to start) since she uses completely different muscles on wheels. We send the rehab team videos of her using the chair so they can assess, and then go back for fine tuning until it’s right.
OMG … I’m so glad you replied to my post on the other blog to come find this post! I cannot get enough of your girl. Perhaps because I know what she’s been through in her life to get here and all with a smile on her face… it brings happy tears to my eyes! Such joy!!! And such a loving family. She is definitely a “bitch on wheels” … she’s doing great.
It is really cool to watch her try and navigate and figure them out. Like she wants to jump to get the treat but knows she’s got the wheels on. Amazing. Truly amazing!
Thank you for sharing and I look forward to more updates! XOXO Alison
Thank you for always cheering us on!!
